Kashmir Tourism is enjoying high numbers of tourists in state even before the beginning of tourist season. Tourism Department of Kashmir and State govt dubbed 2010 as "visit Kashmir" year, the move which has started to show its effect.

Kashmir Tourism
However there has been no official word on this but the tour operators in Kashmir have announced this year as the best so far for Kashmir Tourism. Tour Operators word has been supported by Hotel Industry which itself is saying to experience great occupancy this year.

Less violence is Kashmir valley and minor terror battles has strengthen tourists to travel Kashmir. In last few days numbers of arrivals has suddenly increased.

Kashmir usually starts to greet large volume of tourists with the opening of Tulip Garden in April and its tourist season peaks in June but with the looks of things, Kashmir will be overcrowded by tourists in June. Tour Operators are also trying their best to attract more tourists by offering attractive packages.

Skiing is Turning out to be the one of the major area of tourists attractions. By the looks of things Kashmir may very well challenge major skiing destinations like Switzerland, Italy in the future.

tags: kashmir tourism, Kashmir, Tourist Arrivals, Tourists, Foreign Tourists, Skiing in Kashmir, Tulip Garden, Tour Operators,

Germany Tourism numbers dropped heavily last year

According to Germany Tourism department, numbers of Germans spending holidays abroad has sharply dropped in 2009. The reason behind this landslide is the recession in Germany.

Germany Tourism
Total numbers of Germans traveling abroad felt by 4.6 per cent to 67.2 millions last year. This number is not just a worry for Germany but lots of major tourist markets as well.

Germans preferred destinations are Spain, Italy, USA and Greece, with this drop all these destinations are set to suffer more loses in term of foreign tourists.

Spain will the worst hit if this trend continued since Germany is the biggest market for Spain. It gets almost 1/3 of tourists from Germany. Spain Tourism which is already hit hard in past couple of years must be praying that this trend won't continue this year. Spain recently saw some good numbers after 18 months which was primary due to German travelers.

Greece will be equally worried as well. Its suffering from major recession and Tourism Industry has suffered a major landslide. Numbers of foreign tourists in Greece shrinked by 1/3.

tags: Germany Tourism, Italy, Tourists, Greece, Spain, Foreign Tourists, Travel News

Domestic Tourists, Biggest resistance for Indian Tourism

In last 2 years when global tourism industry witnessed heavy slide due to Global Recession, Indian Tourism did fairly good job. Numbers of Indian Tourism did come down but the loses were much less than expected and the reason for that is strong Domestic Tourists numbers.

India Tourism
When foreign tourists arrival in India fall up to 6 per cent, India's tourism sector was saved by domestic tourists numbers which grown almost 8 to 10 per cent. This is one major reason why India is showing stiff resistance in these worst time of global tourism industry.

India survived the worst of period where top tourist destinations like Spain, Greece, Italy all suffered major setbacks. Experts argue that India survived more on being a cheap travel destination but the fact of the matter is that if that was the case then foreign tourist numbers should not have collapsed in such a manner. Yes being a cheap destination certainly helped India but damaged was cut down by the Domestic tourists.

Even so that state like Goa is concentrating more on domestic tourists. India's 8 per cent economic growth and resistance to global recession saw more domestic tourists numbers. Due to low volume, all major tour operators and hotels reduced tariffs which encouraged more Indians to tour around India.

Its not just India, but Indian tourists are seeing as savior for many tourist destinations. Countries like Switzerland, Taiwan, Fiji are concentrating more to seduce Indian tourists.

tags: Indian Tourism, Domestic Tourists, Global Recession, Cheap Travel Destination, Travel News

Coney Island - Perfect Weekend Destination

Coney Island located in the southern most part of Brooklyn is a seasonal center, which operates between Easter, and Labor Day. It has more than 35 separate rides. What distinguishes it from other amusement parks is that it is not a centrally managed like Disneyland.

Coney Island
From Easter to Memorial Day, the rides and the attractions are open mostly on weekends while it remains open the whole week beginning from Memorial to Labor Day and then open on weekends again until end of September.
However, this year around, Coney Island is to open on Memorial Day with two new amusement parks and 23 new rides which include roller coaster, human slingshot and go-karts.

The beach and boardwalk are open all throughout the year though the lifeguards are only present during the Memorial to Labor Day week. So for all those of you who might fancy a swim I suggest u be a bit cautious if you don't know how to swim.

Fireworks are sponsored by Cyclone Roller Coaster and Deno's Wonder Wheel Park on Friday nights at 9:30 pm from the last weekend of June to the Friday before Labor Day.

There's no shortage of places where u can eat and a recommended eateries are Coney's Island Surf and Turf which is relatively new but still better than most of the other places. Another is Nathan's Famous , which holds an annual hot dog eating contest on the 4th of July.

The only problem is that there is no lodging place in Coney Island although a few hotels are present in Sheepshead Bay , which is just a short distance away if you take a cab.All in all an excellent place for a perfect weekend getaway.

tags: Coney Island, Weekend Destination, Disneyland, Cyclone Roller Coaster, amusement parks,

Finally some respite for Spain Tourism

After 18 months long decline in tourist arrivals, Spain Tourism finally saw a increase. This news was confirmed by Tourism Ministry of Spain on Monday.

Spain Tourism
Spain saw a modest growth of 1.1 percent in January 2010 with total numbers of foreign tourists reaching 2.54 million mark. Finally Spain Tourism guys can take a deep breath and hope this trend will continue in the near future. This news was not only good fr tourism industry but also for Spain Economy, which is also struggling for couple of years. Tourism industry makes up for 10 percent of the Spain's Economy.

Most of the gains for Spain came from neighboring European countries. Britain's love affair with Spain continued as it accounted one-fifth of all arrivals in January. However despite this numbers of Britain tourists in Spain fall by 8.1 percent. Germany became the second largest source of tourists for Spain with sharp rose of 6.3 per cent of tourists for the month of January.

Spain who till last year remained as the second most visited country till 2009 saw more than 11 per cent fall in last 2 years. Spain Tourism is believed to suffer from Global Economic Recession. But local tour operators believe that poor marketing and stiff competition from cheaper destinations like Egypt and Turkey are the prime reason.

tags: Spain, Spain Tourism, Tourists Arrival, Tourists, Cheap Destination, Germany, Britain, Turkey, Egypt

For South Africa Tourism World Cup is Just a Beginning

South Africa tourism is not entirely relied on Soccer World Cup to boost tourism in the country. People are mistaken when think that South Africa is waiting for World Cup for last 2-3 years or so to revive tourism in the country.

South Africa Tourism
World Cup is part of the several steps South Africa tourism took in last few years to strengthen tourism. It all begin couple of years back with Miss World Contest, when South Africa put all its effort to somehow make the event help tourism in the country. Effects were positive, South Africa did get some boost from the Miss World contest.

But it didn't stopped here, after IPL couldn't be hosted in India due to General Elections, South Africa welcomed the tournament with arms wide open in the country. IPL helped South Africa in two ways. First, It cleared doubts of many people who believed that the country can't host a major event and second it did boost the tourism in the country.Tourism board used IPL very cleverly to gain attention.

Now World Cup is just another step for Tourism South Africa, they are making sure that the greatest soccer event of earth will bring fortune to the travel industry.
