Officials in the govt are quite confident that Sunburn, the annual music festival will boost Goa tourism through the holiday season. Sunburn is regarded as the biggest music festival in Asia which will have more than 200 bands performing this year.
Recently tourism minister Dilip Parulekar said that Christmas bookings are going very strong in the state. There is nearly 99 per cent booking for Christmas across all the hotels in the state.
The momentum for the tourism that will start with Christmas will carry through the New Year thanks to the Sunburn music festival and the Supersonic electronic dance music festivals in Vagaor.
According to Dilip Parulekar, both these music festivals will draw large number of tourists in the state. It will bring various challenges for the government like the law and order issue.
But Dilip Parulekar is confident that there will be no law and order issues throughout the holiday season. The coastal belt of Goa will be additional 1000 police personnel during the holiday season.
The tourism minister has just returned from a trip to United States where he promoted Goa tourism. He pointed out that visa delay is the biggest turn off for American tourists who wish to visit Goa.
There is almost 2 months delay in obtaining visa for Goa. The government of Goa has been urging the central tourism ministry to take the matter with Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure that there is no visa delay.
