Bank of Greece has broken the news that tourism industry was so eager to hear. Finally after couple of years of strikes and violence that had very negative impact, Greece tourism has finally bounced back.

This was indeed unexpected from Greece that has seen strikes and violence over the austerity measures for last couple of years. There were dramatic scenes where tourists had verbal fight with the strikers and some even vowed not to ever visit Greece.
But its all in the past and the future looks good. According to the Bank of Greece, tourism related revenues have jumped by 38 per cent thanks to the 24 per cent increase in foreign tourist arrivals.
Alone in April, tourist arrivals increased by whopping 350 percent over last year while May saw increase in tourist arrivals by 120 percent. Overall, Bank of Greece expects total tourist arrivals for entire year to be 15 to 20 percent more than last year. In the process Greece is going to give its best ever performance.
The Greek government has expressed happiness over the figures released by Bank of Greece. Over the past few months, the government has been trying to revive tourism industry.
Greece has been trying to improve its tarnished image with a new slogan called "World's Richest Country", showcasing its rich culture and heritage.
However the credit for revival in tourism also goes to Egypt and Turkey. The crisis in these two countries has seen increase in tourists to Greece. Generally whenever there is unrest in cheap beach destinations like Egypt, countries like Greece and Spain are the major beneficiaries.
In the first five months of 2013, Greece saw arrivals increasing from almost all the destinations. Europe and performed well, so did Asia. It is believed that a lot of tourists who cancelled their trips to Egypt have instead preferred to travel Greece.
