Badrinath Road has been reopened for the tourists after repairing work. Yesterday Badrinath road was cut off due to cloudburst which stranded 5000 tourists on various places in the route of Badrinath.
On Monday National Highway connecting Badrinath was washed away by Alakananda River near Lambagarh. Thousands of devotees were stranded on the route who were given food and water by the help of helicopters.
Since yesterday army took over the repairing work of the highway to allow Badrinath Yatra to continue. Just 15 minutes ago Army managed to fix the road which would have taken at least 2-3 days to fix.
Army has now allowed tourists on foot and motorcycle in Badrinath to use the road. However for tourists traveling via cars would have to wait till yesterday to access in and out of Badrinath. Army hopes to bring things back to normal by tomorrow. Apart from Badrinath, route of Gangotri is also fixed by the army.
Uttarakhand Government has urged tourists to delay their Badrinath yatra for some time due to bad weather. Uttarakhand has some of the most important Pilgrimage Destination in India like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Rishikesh, Haridwar etc. Several routes in the state have been affected due to heavy rains and landslide in the region therefore government urged people to delay their trips for own safety until weather conditions are improved.
