Till now over 30 organizations has come together to protest against the state's new immigrant law which requires all foreigners to carry their important documents like visa etc all the time else could be thrown into the jail.
In the battle between state and the immigration organization tourism industry is the one to take the biggest hit. Nobody cares that Arizona Tourism industry generates $18.6 billion per year. Just in 2008 state created 167,000 jobs from the tourism industry. Is it really fair to cost thousands of jobs at the time when US Economy is not that great just to carry out protests. Is it right to fight for ones rights by hurting another person's job.
Now I am not supporting SB 1070 Law, neither I am opposing it. May be this law is not right, but what these protesters are doing isn't right as well. You can't counter one mistake by committing another mistake. This is the time for all these organizations to act maturely and protest in the manner that it does not hurt the state further. Boycotting major events in the state is only going to make situation worse. There are many other ways to protest.
All these organizations should also know that Phoenix alone is going to suffer losses of $90 Million in next five years due to their actions. They may win, government might take the law back but at what cost. By the time all this will end State could easily lose more than $500 Millions in Tourism.
