For last two years, Goa did not participated in the Arabian Travel Mart. But things have changed this year. Not only Goa is encouraged by the number of tourists who visited state last year but there is also an increase in chartered flights to Goa from UAE and Iran.
Airlines like Air India, Air Arabia and Qatar Airways have planned several direct flights to Goa from Dubai for the 2012 tourist season scheduled to start in October. Goa wants to make sure that it take full advantage of these flights by attracting as many tourists as possible.
Goa tourism is also seeing a strong opening in the Arab market due to uncertain situation in North Africa. Traditionally North Africa has been main beach destination for Arab tourists. However due to Arab Spring, they have been forced to look for alternatives. Goa wants to make full of the situation.
Goa is also scheduled to attend World Travel Mart-London, International Travel Bazaar in Berlin and FITUR in Spain ahead of this year's tourism season. This has been done to ensure that more tourists visit Goa this tourism season.
