Mauritius
Mauritius is an island nation which sits in the Indian Ocean, a little way off the east coast of Africa. Along with the Seychelles, the island has been known for some years as a high profile tourist destination. It offers some of the world's finest beaches and most exotic scenes but the natural beauty of the island is just one reason to visit.
The culture of Mauritius is truly unique and a blend of French, Indian and Chinese cultures permeates the island. The diversity of the population makes Mauritius a particularly inviting place for visitors – the locals are keen to learn about new cultures and to teach newcomers about theirs.
Holidays to Mauritius are also perfect for the golfer, with a number of very high quality courses. The nearby island of Ile aux Cerfs is particularly well known for its five-star course and can be reached easily by boat and a high proportion of Mauritius resorts will have a course of their own.
The first thing which anybody will think of when Mauritius comes to mind is undoubtedly the beaches and coastline. Home to some of the most picturesque spots in the world, Mauritius is surely one of the best locations in the world for beginners and pros alike to don diving gear and drop below the ocean's surface.
Mexico
For history, culture, beaches and food, Mexico is very hard to beat as a holiday destination. Nestled between the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean, Mexico offers a blissful climate and a plethora of idyllic resorts and historic cities.
For those with an eye for historical significance, probably the most attractive asset of Mexico is the Mayan ruins. The Mayans are now well known for their influence on the origin of the 2012 ‘end of the world’ phenomenon. A culture with a sophisticated grasp of time, the Mayans' calendar comes to an end in December of this year – allegedly prophesising the end of the world.
For beaches, visitors have the choice of Baja California, which protrudes southwards from California in the USA, or the Yucatan Peninsula which divides the Gulf of Mexico from the Caribbean. Whether it is a tropical surfing location or a relaxed beach bar you are looking for, Mexico has plenty to offer the beach loving visitor.
Mexico is also home to a vast and diverse mix of wildlife. There are countless national parks and ecological reserves dedicated to the preservation of animals. From any coastline, it is possible to take a trip out to sea with the hope of glimpsing one of many types of whale local to the area.
Holidays to Mexico are unique and rich and, with many luxury resorts to choose from, Mexico makes the perfect destination for your holidays this year.
