1. Hiking
Depending on your level of fitness, why not see a little more of the world than the beach or poolside with a hiking holiday in 2012. It needn’t be an expensive trip to prepare for as women’s and mens walking boots are now available at great prices and the cost of hiking equipment remains relatively cheap compared to many other adventurous activities. Walking is a great way to spend your holiday, whether you are ambling around the Cumbrian hills, or heading into the Amazon rainforest.
2. Climbing
Clambering up a mountain, or scrambling up a sheer rock face requires great skill and a good level of fitness, not to mention quality kit. Scarpa boots are ideal for those seeking the gentler option of climbing a mountain, whereas those seeking to rock climb on more vertical surfaces will require specialist climbing shoes to aid their grip on the rock face. There are plenty of companies offering superb trips across the globe for climbing enthusiasts, all at a range of different prices to suit all budgets.
3. Biking
Biking holidays are a popular way to see a destination in an environmentally-friendly, healthy way. Seeing a new part of the world on two wheels is a great way to gain an appreciation of the beauty of an area. Many popular destinations around the world offer the chance to hire bicycles cheaply, allowing you to quickly get around and experience the sights and sounds of the locality.
4. Boating
Why not hire a canal boat for a few days and explore some of the finest waterways in the world? Whether it is across Europe, in Ireland or on the famous Norfolk Broads, boating is a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend your holiday. Don’t forget to pack walking boots for men, women and children as once the boat is moored, you can take advantage of the fabulous local countryside and head off into the hills for an amble away from the river, or just walk into town to sample some of the local beverages and delicacies.
5. Skiing
Skiing is a fantastic sport to try. Many of the top European resorts offer ski hire, clothing to hire and purchase as well as tuition for the beginner to help reduce costs. This allows them to learn the basics before they head off onto the slopes alone or invest a lot of money in equipment. With superb attractions for families, not to mention the ever-present après ski, a skiing holiday is an enjoyable and energetic way to spend your time. With so many resorts to choose from, all across the globe, you can ski close to home, or head abroad in search of pristine slopes and breathtaking local scenery.
So remember, 2012 does not have to be the year where you go on the same holiday that you always have. Why not try something new and different this year and add a little imagination and excitement to your chosen holiday? There are a myriad of exciting experiences out there for you to sample and enjoy; so what are you waiting for?
