Apart from Hat Yai floods have hit Pathalung and Nakhon Si Thammarat districts while Pattani and Narathiwat provinces are also affected by floods. Relief work is in progress to safely rescue tourists out of Hat Yai.
Media reports are suggesting that a large number of stranded tourists in Hat Yai are from Malaysia. Every year over 500,000 foreign tourists visits Hat Yai out of which half are Malaysian tourists.
Tourism Industry fears that flash floods are going to scare away 120,000 tourists from Hat Yai which will result in losses of 1.2 billion Baht.
