KVITIFJELL TRAVEL GUIDE

Kvitfjell is a world class skiing destination located in Ringebu, Norway. Kvitfjell is a ski resort in the municipality of Ringebu, Norway. Kvitfjell is one of the most modern resorts in the world, with 85% of the alpine skiing pistes covered in artificial snow. Based near the river Gudbrandsdalslågen, the resort offers 18 pistes: 7 green (nursery), 4 blue (beginner) , 4 red (intermediate) and 3 black (advanced). Kvitfjell is also home to a terrain park and 120km of cross-country pistes, with access to 480km extra in Skei and Gålå. Kvitfjell is a popular choice of skiing competitions, having been used for the 1994 Winter Olympics based in nearby Lillehammer in the men and women's downhill and super G disciplines.

Kvitfjell Alpinanlegg was built for the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics. Since then, it has become one of the best and most modern ski resorts in Northern Europe. Kvitfjell is located just 2.5 hours north of the Oslo Airport, along the main railway and highway. At an altitude of over 800m above sea level, the view from the lifts and central station leaves a lasting impression of the beautiful landscape. Kvitfjell offers challenging slopes for both beginners and experienced skiers. GudbrandsGard Hotell is the hotel jewel of the destination, combining luxury, fairytale, and adventure. Many other accommodations are available to suit everyone's needs.

 

WHAT TO DO

During high season, Kvitfjell offers a variety of activities to suit the needs of all guests, young and old. For those who enjoy speed, they can arrange ski races, or even one of their popular “Romperaciade” races. For those wanting something more relaxing, they offer horse-drawn sleigh rides through the Kvitfjell forests. While you’re there, why not enjoy a nice meal with a great view?

Ski & Snowboard

Kvitfjell boasts Olympic quality slopes in a scenic environment. This is not to say it isn't suited for beginners. Au contraire; the west side of the mountain was just developed for that exact purpose! There are hills for every level of skier or snowboarder.

Oslo: 225 km ( 2 hours 45 minutes drive) Gardermoen: 198 km (2 1/2 hours drive) Lillehammer: 55 km (45 minutes drive) Trondheim: 315 km (3 1/2 hours drive)
