TALLAHASSEE TRAVEL GUIDE

Tallahassee is the capital city of Florida, the United States. It is an inland city in the Florida Panhandle. In addition to the state government, it is a university town, housing both the 1993 and 1999 National Champion Florida State University and Florida A&M University [2]. Tallahassee has a good selection of restaurants for a city of its size. The universities' theater, art, and music programs, in addition to an active Council of Culture and Arts, also make for an unusually vibrant arts scene.

Tallahassee's terrain is hilly by Florida standards, being located at the southern end of the Red Hills Region, just above the Cody Scarp. The elevation varies from near sea level to just over 200 feet, with the state capitol located on one of the highest hills in the city. The city also includes two large lake basins, Lake Jackson and Lake Lafayette, and borders the northern end of the Apalachicola National Forest.
