Travel to Switzerland is like stepping into a picture postcard, the one with the perfect blue sky, a riot of spring flowers, rolling green meadows with specks of bovine life and a range of dazzling snowy mountains in the background. For romantic tourists, Switzerland is a country with romance in the air. This is exactly the reason why King of Romance, Yash Chopra directed some of his most romantic and memorable movies in Switzerland. Among them, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is still running in Indian theater since its release back in 1995. Even today honeymooners from India travel to Switzerland in search of famous DDLJ Church and Bridge, the most iconic places for romantic couples.

At every turn you will understand the clinch of this land being one of milk and honey, since visitors are known to pack in cheese and chocolates (and the Swiss army knives) as the souvenirs to take back home. Gourmets are known to be satiated here. Yes, while you can stuff yourself with the famous fondue and raclette, delightful eateries dot the map of foodies and even the die hard vegetarians variety of visitors go back happy. Of course, the valleys are redolent with as good a food trail as they have wine.

When the hills are alive, can the lakes be far behind? Switzerland is one of the few countries in Europe that builds entire townships around its lakes. Interlaken, for instance, a favorite tourist destination among Indians, is a picturesque town. As the name suggests, it is a city between two lakes; screne, beautiful and worshipping at the foot of the mighty Jungfrau (another hugely popular spot that houses the highest railway station in Europe).
