Sharm el-Sheikh was a simple and quiet fishing community till the late 60’s. Ever since then, Sharm el-Sheikh has been worked upon by the Egyptian government in developing it into one of the most attractive cities offering a huge range of beach resorts, popularly known as “world resorts” due to its being the choicest vacation spot of Europeans, mainly because of its beauty and affordability.
Set on the face of the Red Sea in Tiran, this resort boasts of extremely pleasant weather in the winters, which is the busiest season for tourist travel, although the resort is operated round the year. Having an international standard of the airport, which caters to international and privately chartered flights, definitely compliments this aspect.
The Sharm el-Sheikh has various bay areas offering a huge range of accommodation for the tourists, providing for any budget of the tourists. From some of the finest and most luxurious five star hotels to basic economy hotels, and from condominiums to villas for renting by the tourists. Along the coastline of the Red Sea are some of the resorts which open into the beaches, providing a boardwalk straight into the sea, and providing an extremely refreshing view of the sea, from the room’s window, which is indeed very rejuvenating. All modern facilities in the hotels are available at the tourists’ discretion, such as gymnasiums, Jacuzzi with spa, pools, parlors etc; for a very nominal cost, especially when compared to the associated costs for such an accommodation or the provided facilities in Europe or other western countries.
Once the tourists have settled and want to get around, one of the most amazing places to visit is the Southern Sinai tip, where underwater snorkeling and scuba diving is done. This area consists of astonishingly attractive and rare reefs in the clearest possible waters, along with an exotic variety of fish, which can be found swimming amongst corals which are extremely colorful. Near about to this tip is another historical protectorate, known as Ras Mohamed, which is concealed underwater, and is a stunning sight for divers. For divers and snorkelers, there is sufficient support at Sharm El-Sheikh, where all sorts of diving gear and boats are available on hire. Mostly managed and run by Europeans, there are even instructors available to be hired for educating the tourists about diving.
Besides the underwater attractions, Sharm El-Sheikh is a rather developed area with advanced infrastructure, offering detailed facilities for four wheel driving, go carting, horse riding, golf course, bowling alleys, bungee jumping and most interestingly, ice skating. This resort’s appeal is for the complete family as in the evenings, the tourists can enjoy boardwalks to the beach, various shows and entertainment programs.
After the tourists have enjoyed the activities on offer and are done with their enjoyment part at Sharm el-Sheikh, shopping and eating is the next most important thing. This can be done at Sharm el-Sheikh downtown area, which is a rather old kind of town, but consists of a fairly large number of eateries and bars. Little souvenir shopping can be done in the local bazaar here which although does not have designers setting up their shops, but a huge variety of Egyptian cultural things can be bought. Papyrus and perfumes in Egypt are rather famous souvenirs available here.
Finally, being more like a European resort, with extremely beautiful flora and fauna, high quality of infrastructure and up to date facilities, with all of this being available at very affordable associated costs, makes Sharm el-Sheikh one of the best most extravagant vacation destination for the tourists around the world, which invariably leaves cherished impressions in memories.
